So after some talking into by my brother I decided to post a few pictures of stuff that I do. You may be surprised by a few of things because I never did ANYTHING crafty in high school or my younger years, in fact I absolutely HATED it! So here are a few things that I have done that are in our house.
This is the ottoman in our living room, it was this hideous color but I recovered in and added trim.
Next is the chest that you see in the background of the ottoman picture. I had been wanting a big chest to put in the living room that we could put blankets and extra pillows but never could find one that was the right size for the amount of $$$$ I was wanting to spend. One day while at the in-laws I walked out onto the back-porch and saw the chest that I have been looking everywhere for. They were using it to hold pool toys for the grandkids. Of course it was a little beat up and sun damaged but with a little bit of paint and elbow grease it turned into this...
This next project was my very first one, besides our window treatments which will have to a completely different post and those couldn't have been done without my EXTREMELY talented mother-in-law. Anyways I do not have a before picture of these chairs but they were just plain wood with a nasty, old material on them. So I had some material left over from one of the window treatments and some extra paint laying around so this is what they turned into. (I only took a picture of one but they are the same chairs.)
I love the detailing on them...
The next project was the biggest yet, so big that we almost couldn't get it into the house once it was done. When we first got married we just took my bedroom set, which was a queen bed, and had been just been using that until I got the bright idea to MAKE a KING bed. Yes I said MAKE, after some convincing on my mother-in-law she agreed to help me conquer this project. And when I say MAKE I mean we literally build the frame, foot-pegs, sideboards, and the headboard. Check it out...
Here is a closer picture of the headboard.
We love it!!
So for any of those who have been to our house know that our office has been our little storage room since we have moved in. That was until a few weeks ago I finally fixed the desk that I bought and got it decorated. Here is the desk before...
Here is the picture after it was done and in the office...
**DISCLAIMER: The top right part of it is going to re-painted and some knobs will be added. My other idea didn't work but I just to lazy to fix it right away.
Here is the detailing on the side...
Here is a chair that I recovered that is also in our office, I actually didn't repaint this one because I loved the detailing in it and it matched the fabric that I wanted to use...
And yes I was crazy enough to hammer those nail heads in one-by-one. It paid off in the end...I love it. And what you don't see is all the nail heads that had to go all the way around the seat and on the back of the chair.
Next is the only project that my husband did not think that I could make work. It just needed a little cleaning and some decorating up top....
Yeah...he ate his words.
Above this chest there is a set of 6 frames that I made. I love the way they turned out...
Here is a close up of one...
Next is an end table that we have in our office...
We have another one that is the same end table but I painted it a different color and it is in our living room, I just forgot to take a picture of it.
These next two projects are ones that Matt and I have done together. After doing these we decided that our marriage can withstand anything now. Haha. Yes, Matt actually had to go on a drive and leave the house once while installing the console in the laundry room and I had to go on walk, but hey we laugh about it now!!
So when we got our washer and dryer they didn't come with the drawers underneath them and they would of costed us like $500. We decided that we weren't going to pay that much and I had an idea with what I wanted to do. So here it is...
(Our dirty clothes go in the different baskets which makes it nice and easy when I do laundry because it is already separated and everything.)
Then I wanted a curtain to cover the shelves that are above the washer and dryer. I loved this material and it looked great in there...
Here is it all together (well almost the whole thing)...
The final project that I will bore you with is our built-in entertainment center. We built it one weekend and are really happy with the way it turned out. We took a few pictures of the process. Here it is...
And here it is all done...
Well that is all for now, I hope everyone is doing well. Until next time...
that is so so awesome!!! i just can't wait to have a house to be able to do that stuff to!
